Rishikesh is composed of three
localities at the foothills of Himalayas. The first is around a bridge
called Laxman Jhoola, then is Muni-ki-reti or "Sands of the Sages"
and then comes the township on the banks of the river Ganges. There are
religious centres called "Ashrams", where courses on meditation
and ancient medical techniques called "Ayurveda" are offered.

to see» Bharat Mandir : This is the oldest temple in
Rishikesh .Though the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, there are a number
of images .
» Nilkanth Mahadev : This is believed to
be the place where Lord Shiva drank poison and his throat turned blue. The
templelocated at the hill top by a 10 km. walk or a 32 km. drive.

Raghunath Mandir and Triveni Ghat : This is the most important place for
religious ceremonies.The most spectacular visual is the ritual called "Aarti"
at the Triveni Ghat performed at dusk.
» Chandreshwar
Temple : It stands at the confluence of the Chandrabhaga to the Ganges.

Someshwar Temple : It is mentioned in the scriptures that it was
standing amidst water.Perhaps the Ganges flowed here centuries ago.

Hanuman Mandir : Large number of devotees turn up on tuesday as it is
the traditional day for Hanuman.
How to get thereBy
Air : Nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airfield which is 17 km. from
Rishikesh.Flights are erractic.
By Rail : There is a slow
shuttle train but it is better to alight at Haridwar.
By Road :
It is well connected by roads and there are buses to Gharhwal and Delhi
